The new construction involved concrete piles base inter-connected with reinforced pile cap heads and ring beams.

The ground floor slabs were suspended on these bases with all associated services fitted beneath. The units were also served by external drainage works, access roads and car parking facilities.

​

A major surface water channel was diverted around the site to allow greater capacity and ease of maintenance. It involved large brick built chambers around dual 900mm diameter concrete pipes.
